Position Summary
Dominican University of California is accepting applications for the position of Director of Institutional Research. In this capacity, the successful candidate would be responsible for institutional research that proactively supports the planning, budgeting, decision-making, assessment, and student enrollment objectives of the University. In addition, s/he would work collaboratively to foster institutional effectiveness at Dominican and serve as a member of the Provost's Management Team.

  • Responsible for the successful identification, analysis, and dissemination of institutional research in support of the University's planning, budgeting, decision-making, and assessment objectives. Proactively identify and meet informational needs.
  • Serves a key role in and drives institutional effectiveness. Uses institutional data, peer benchmarks, and best practice data to initiate discussions with appropriate line officers and administrators.
  • Extract data from various student systems to support the University's student recruitment and retention efforts. Actively work with external consultants to develop student financial aid models that will maximize net student tuition income.
  • Provide key information and process recommendations for academic program review. Compile program specific data to drive the program review process. Support University and individual program accreditation reviews.
  • Aid the development of and support the University's Strategic Plan. Co-develop and update a dashboard that measures progress toward achieving Strategic and Annual Goals.
  • As requested, prepare and present institutional research results to faculty, staff, the Enrollment Committee, Academic Executive Council, President’s Cabinet, and the Board of Trustees.
  • As requested, coordinate the University's research efforts in support of student enrollment goals.
  • Identify trends in institutional research, identify new kinds of information needs, identify and monitor benchmarks, support assessment efforts.
  • Prepare the annual FACT book.
  • Direct the work of the Office of Institutional Research.
  • Contribute to team effort by welcoming new and different work requirements; exploring new opportunities to enhance the services of the division; helping others accomplish related job results as and where needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • Masters in Math, Statistics, or related field required; PhD in Math, Statistics, or related area preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of higher education, statistical methods, statistical software packages, survey research, and the use of statistics in decision-making and institutional research
  • Proficient in use of statistical software, word processing, and spreadsheet software
  • Administrative experience in higher education strongly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
